I do have sensitive skin, so if you don’t it may not be an issue for you. It does seem to be the primer sadly I developed anywhere from 3 to 10 closed comedones (whiteheads) by the end of each day after wearing. Just to be sure, I even placed it in isolated areas to check that it was the primer causing the issue, even though I hadnn’t changed anything else in my routine. What was really a dealbreaker for me with this primer was the fact that evry time I used it I would break out. The primer did dry to a matte finish, completely dry and silky. Though I can see this being more important to someone who would plan to wear the primer by itself. My skintone did seem more even when the primer alone was on my skin, but unevenness isn’t too much of a concern for me as this is usually sorted with a layer of foundation. ![]() ![]() I had to take my makeup off hours earlier than I usually would because my base was looking and feeling too heavy. However, though it did blur pores, it also created more lines than usual around my mouth, and made whatever was placed on top of it to appear thick and cakey, especially as the day went on. The pores around my nose (my largest pores and the reason I even began looking into pore blurring primers in the first place) were literally invisible throughout the whole day. Though having said that, the primer did a truly miraculous job at blurring pores. However, once I got it on the face it was a bit stiff to blend out evenly. When I first squeezed some of this primer out, I was expecting a thicker formula and was pleasantly surprised for it to be a little more liquid-y than other blurring primers I’ve tried. WATER/EAU, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, ISODODECANE, ETHYLENE/ACRYLIC ACID COPOLYMER, METHYL METHACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, DECYL GLUCOSIDE, POLYSILICONE-11, DIMETHICONE, PHENOXYETHANOL, TRIETHANOLAMINE, CARBOMER, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, CHLORPHENESIN, ALUMINA, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, 3-O-ETHYL ASCORBIC ACID. In the UK you can get selected Wet n Wild products from Boots and Beauty Bay.įor £5 pounds you get 25ml of product (or 0.84 floz), which is less than your typical primer (it is also quite hard to spread as well I used more of this primer than my typical primer in order to cover my whole face). Wet n Wild is a Californian based makeup brand, named America’s #1 value brand. Carry on reading to find out what I thought! It's worth a try, especially if you are after Vitamin C's skin-brightening effects.Today I have a review of Wet n Wild’s Photo Focus Matte Primer. Overall, Ethyl Ascorbic Acid is a very promising but not a fully proven Vitamin C derivative. On top of manufacturer claims, there is also clinical in-vivo (tested on real people) data showing that 2% EAC can improve skin tone and whiten the skin. ![]() The strong point of EAC though is skin brightening. ![]() EAC seems to have both an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect, and it's claimed to be able to boost the skin's collagen production. Regarding conversion, we can cite only a manufacturers claim saying that EAC is metabolized in the skin into pure ascorbic acid (and the ascorbic acid content of EAC is very high - 86,4% - compared to the usual 50-60% Vitamin C content of other derivatives).Īs for the three magic abilities of Vitamin C, we again mostly have only the manufacturer's claims, but at least those are very promising. We have good news regarding the absorption: on top of manufacturer claims, there is some data (animal study) demonstrating in can get into the skin, and it seems to be better at it than Ascorbyl Glucoside, another vitamin C derivative. However, for a Vitamin C derivative to work it's not enough just to be stable, they also have to be absorbed into the skin and be converted there to pure Vitamin C.
